Fun for 1st Graders October 23, 2003 DC (BOWIE, MD United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My daughter (1st grader) absolutely loves this book. She loves math and the book makes math fun. The pages are colorful and there are a variety of math exercises. There are stickers included in the book and she always asks me to put stickers on the pages that she finds challenging.
nice basic math book September 21, 2004 Christine Harvey (Boston, MA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book presents grade 2 math step by step from simple first grade topics. Most drills have colorful cartoons to attract kids. Stickers are given for rewarding hard work. Most sheets practice adding and subtracting facts. The basics are covered pretty solid, but a bit easy to serious math learners. If your child has more interest, you should find additional math programs. A Houston community web site Beestar.org provides free math exercises every week with interesting real-life math problems. I signed up my son last semester and found it very useful. My son likes it, too. In the past he only played games on the Internet. Now he learns math online. I love it.
Jump Start 1st grade math work book February 24, 2005 Lin Alexander (United States of America) Cute book, but seemed geared pretty low for 1st grade, not very challenging at all, I'm sort of disappointed. Might be good for the very beginning of 1st grade, by be 2nd semester kids ought to be way past this.
Real-Life Math from Scholastic September 10, 2007 Carol Watson (Del Mar, CA USA) I was disappointed to find many errors in this book. In examples of various calculation processes, especially long division and multiplication, the numbers were misaligned and would be very confusing for a person trying to learn by following the examples.
