Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This text is intended for a first course in programming for engineers and scientists using MATLAB. Chapman's Essentials of MATLAB uses a proven top-down design methodology, used consistently throughout the text, which encourages students to think about proper design of a program before coding. It also teaches the proper use of MATLAB's built in tools to make programming and debugging easier. Tools covered include the Editor/Debugger, Workspace Browser, Help Browser and GUI design tools.

I teach a 1-credit hr class on Programming to Engineers. This is the first semester I am teaching the class using Matlab and a mock ABET visitor last year recommended this book to me. It is a good book for someone learning how to program in Matlab. Good end of the book exercises.

The harder concepts or concepts that are only true for Matlab need to be seperated out. Plotting needs to be in two separate chapters. More examples are needed in the chapters.
